Burning wood and coal gives off soot and tar which are deposited on chimney flues. This creates a hard crust called glazed deposit. The chimney sweeping brick treats all flues by catalysis. It does not attack stainless steel liners. Through its action, it loosens soot and breaks down tar. This increases the clear space in the flues. Suitable for fireplaces, stoves, open or closed fireboxes. Long-lasting action, odourless.
- This product works fully when the flue is hot. Light the fireplace or the heating appliance, keep a hot fire going for 1 to 2 hours in order to heat the flue well and obtain a good bed of embers.
- Take the chimney sweeping brick out of its cardboard sleeve and place it on the embers.
- Let the brick burn slowly, (approx.1 hour), the smoke given off then acts on the soot and the glazed deposits to destroy them and make them non-flammable. Repeat the operation about every 2 months.
- During the following fires, the action of the chimney sweeping brick continues to clear the tar and the soot through the chimney draught or by the residues falling back into the firebox (or stove insert).
- Chemical chimney sweeping by catalysis combined with mechanical chimney sweeping will allow you to use your fireplace in complete safety.
- Mechanical chimney sweeping is compulsory, in accordance with the legal provisions in force.
